Simply put, a Trackback is a way for sites to link to each other automatically.

The other night I decided I needed to have some php run from my posts now and again. I started doing the “normal” WordPress thing and messing with plugins and seeing which worked on WPMU and which did not.
This went typically… find the plugin, install the plugin, watch it blow up, remove the plugin, find the next one, modify WPMU configuration so it works… hack hack hack…
I finally found a couple that worked and I will write them up soon.
Except…
When I put the php code in my post and hit save, it just vanished.
O_o
My first thought was, “gee, how STUPID!”

WYSIWYG editors suck.
The WordPress WYSIWYG editor is extra noxious.
To kill its vileness, it takes some poking around. Specially since it is in a non-intuitive place.

RSS feeds are a common feature of blog scripts like WordPress and are useful for keeping subscribers informed when new content is added. Immediately after installing WordPress, I configure it with the basics.
Go to Manage –>Posts and edit the default first post or delete it.

In WordPress MU, to Edit a blog’s configuration and change it’s setting, you click the “edit” link next to the blog name in the blog list in the admin. Once there you will have a form for all the settings. Below is how I set mine. I will only list the fields that actually get changed. If you can’t find a field name I either thought it was self explanatory or was left alone. If you do not understand something, do NOT mess with it! You can and will break your WordPress install by monkeying around in here. You have been warned and you are on your own.
