Rule One

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

The first rule of blogging successfully is to actually blog. Sounds trite, I know. That does not stop it from being true. Not that this blog shows it, I do know my blog stuff. That is the point. Knowing how to blog is nothing compared to actually doing it.

A blogger who has no skill will get more traffic and do better then the best blogger on the planet who never posts.

State of the Blog

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

This blog has been off to a slow start. Sorry about that. It isn’t really a blog I had planned on producing, so it got squeezed into my schedule. I would blame the lameness on publishing on the Thanksgiving Holiday here in the US, just like I did in Search Engine Optimization but that would be dishonest. ;)

Truth is, this blog is a reach for me both in time and subject. Yes, I can do some really good work with blogs and I have more then a clue on how and why they work, but this is not my primary vehicle for Internet Marketing. This blog’s purpose for me is to make me stretch out and to also practice what I preach, but mainly, it is a place for me to put my blog knowledge down in text to share with my immediate peers and allies.

Edit Blog Settings

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

In WordPress MU, to Edit a blog’s configuration and change it’s setting, you click the “edit” link next to the blog name in the blog list in the admin. Once there you will have a form for all the settings. Below is how I set mine. I will only list the fields that actually get changed. If you can’t find a field name I either thought it was self explanatory or was left alone. If you do not understand something, do NOT mess with it! You can and will break your WordPress install by monkeying around in here. You have been warned and you are on your own.

Install a Blog

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Go figure, to blog, you need to have a blog. There are many free blogs and blog scripts out and about so paying for blog software is not really a good idea for most of us. If you want to spend absolutely $0 then you want to use a blog service. If you don’t mind spending a few dollars, I heartily recommend hosting your own blog if you have the knowledge.

If free is for you, MySpace has free blog space. Blogger does the same without all the cheesiness of MySpace. There are MANY free blog services!

If it’s free, why is this post going to continue? Quite simply, there are downsides to the free alternatives ranging from lack of flexibility to inability to run advertisement or being associated with splogs. TANSTAAFL!

The Art of Blogging

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Greetings to all you potential readers!

Thanks for taking the time to read this horrid first post! ;)

What I hope to do in this blog is learn and teach how to use blogs in the best way to earn a profit.

I also hope to improve my writing by doing more of it.

This blog goes hand in hand with SEO Stuff Blog and both blogs should be read.

My, how the project just keeps getting bigger! ;)

Good luck to both of us!
